As part of the Sapporo Culture Knot Week (SCKW) adopted project, “Ku-kan ARTIST’S FES” will be held at Ku-kan from December 6 to December 15, 2025. This project is an artist-led art fair and merchandise event held at Ku-kan. The event will feature ZONE A, which will display installation works that take advantage of the Ku-kan venue, and ZONE B, which will exhibit and sell works by artists. Through “Ku-kan ARTIST’S FES,” implemented as part of SCKW’s initiatives aimed at building networks and supporting artists, we aim to create an art event that includes not only fine artists but also creators working in various fields of expression.
Mio Moriyama
Born in 2003 in Asahikawa, Hokkaido.
Graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Arts, Sapporo Otani University in 2025, with a major in oil painting.
Currently affiliated with Art Space 0-Chiten.

Ryotaro Sato

He collects data circulated as assets and edits it while referencing images from photography, video, games, and other media to depict the current state of the internet. In recent years, he has focused on data, software, and platforms involved in contemporary image-making, exploring the relations of production surrounding imagination. Major exhibitions include “MACHINE LOVE: Video Game, AI and Contemporary Art” (Mori Art Museum, 2025), “Inorganic Friends” (Tokyo Arts and Space Hongo, 2023), and “Viewpoints of Reality in the Multi-layered World” (NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], 2022).

Yamazaki Yoshihiko
Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido in 1994. Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Sapporo Otani University in 2016, and completed the Graduate School of Education at Hokkaido University of Education in 2020. Currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts. Recipient of the 34th Holbein Scholarship.
His practice involves deconstructing and reconstructing photographs shared on social media, creating collages that embed multiple layers of time and place as the foundation for painting. These works are further cited as “paintings within paintings,” accumulating in a nested structure. The resulting images, overlapping fragments of the everyday, embody both a sense of emptiness and an attempt to visualize aspects of contemporary visual culture such as “preservation” and “circulation.”
Selected exhibitions include Ryoko Kumakura & Yoshihiko Yamazaki: Links, Embed Images (Gallery & Bakery Tokyo 8fun, Tokyo, 2025), HAPS KYOTO selection #2 Yoshihiko Yamazaki (HAPS Office 1F, Kyoto, 2023), Door Scope and Bagel (Gallery MONMA, Sapporo, 2023), and 50th Anniversary Exhibition: With Artists Toward Tomorrow (Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art, Sapporo, 2016).

In the rush of everyday life,
I create with the hope of recalling the quiet breath
of a slightly chilled morning.
I paint fleeting light and hushed stillness,
so that between color and emptiness,
a faint warmth may gently seep through.

Born in Sapporo in 1993. Transitioned from occupational therapist to illustrator in 2021. Began artistic activities in 2023. Through her work as a therapist, experiences of bereavement, and psychoanalysis, she reexamines distinctions between seemingly opposing concepts, focusing on forms of love found within uncertainty. Blending digital and analog expression, nostalgic manga-style touches, and futuristic fashion, she depicts more human women as an extension of surrealism. Additionally creates illustrations and advertising artwork for women's media such as beauty magazines.

In a society where words and images accumulate and become increasingly complex, I create photographic works that contrast places and times where meaning has been removed.

I have also been producing zines since around 2020, which sells on consignment at second-hand bookstores such as Tabi Kosho Shanti Books and Furuhon Romando, as well as at events such as never mind the books and literary flea markets.
